Am I really 'that girl'

Thanks for every ones comments and concern about the cop. Don't worry, I would definitely take the steps to make sure I was safe and would tell someone if something is up. Just a reminder to everyone to be safe and stay alert out on their running paths. Even though I usually run with my Ipod, I always am super aware and alert, especially since so many drivers are crazy out there!

Anyways, the plane ride up north was when I realized something. I was boarding the plane and the two people in front of me were very elderly. These two below reminded me of them.

Photobucket

It was super windy out and the old man's hat almost blew off. I said, "Ha, ha, you gotta be careful out here huh! It's so windy." They pretty much both glared at me like I had just spoken to them in a different language, or said something offensive. I looked around to see if there was anyone else nearby that maybe they were angry with. Nope, that look was directed towards me. Cool. Thanks.

I get in my seat next to a guy, age ranging from 18-21. I took Jet Blue so there are TVs in the back of every seat. He was watching a football game that I wanted to watch so I asked him what the channel was. He looked at me with this look that was like seriously? and then changed the channel down to figure out what channel the game was on. I thank him and I found the game, but unfortunately there was only like four minutes left. After the game I didn't want to watch the after show because I unfortunately I forgot my headphones, thus I wanted to watch something that I could still understand without sound. I looked at his little TV. It was women's collegiate bowling. The NCAA championships. Not only am I amazed that this is actually a college sport, but I'm interested and want to watch. I ask him again what channel it's on. This seemed to be like I'm pulling out his teeth.

I then decide that now is the perfect time to make small talk. I said, "Wow, that's pretty crazy that this is a college sport!" He looked at me like I was an idiot, "Yea." It was then I realized that the day after Christmas, maybe people weren't so happy to fly? Or maybe people just hated me? It was an experience for the books so I just slumped down in my seat and enjoyed the rest of my 45 minute flight. I felt like I was 'that girl' who was the annoying passenger next to you on the plane that you don't want to talk to.

Tonight I'm going to the gym again to hit up the weights. I am still sore though, I forgot how weak the rest of my body is. Something definitely to work on. Good luck to all those racing this weekend, including all the PF Changers in AZ! :) Have fun!

xoxo

Aw, you're so funny! No, I don't think you're "that girl". I'll admit that I tend to be one of those "please don't talk to me" people on flights, but what you did was totally OK! Those people you talked to must just be grumpy grumpersons.

LOL that is such a funny story! I wonder what was up w/ people? Old people you would think would be polite and a young guy who probably thought you were hot... maybe he was intimidated! LOL! Oh well what can you do? Some people are weird!

Some people are just Grumpy! There is nothing with a little small talk or a funny comment when something happens (as long as you actually aren't making fun of them - you know what i mean). Anyway people give me those looks all the time - its like they are mad at me for being happy and social or at least polite!!

you are not that girl. I am a talker and so those kinds of looks are given to me all the time. I am that girl. ;)

You are not 'that girl' promise! Love your blog by the way, super cute!

Love your blog! Some of your stories are cracking me up! I don't think you are that girl! You were just making small talk! It's not like you were asking his life story or anything. As for the old folks, I'm surprised they were so mean. Usually they can be the sweetest! Strange!

I actually had a lady once talk to me on a 4 hour flight and I didn't say much but every time I did speak up, she would say, 'Oh you just keep talking you cute little southern girl. Where are you from? Texas?' I would have to tell her um no ma'am Arkansas. Apparently she liked my accent. Talk about a long flight!

Awww no not at all. I would've totally made conversation with you on that flight! AND I might have been on that flight with you because I heart JetBlue on those TV's!!

First time I took one was on my way to Cali... coincidence?? ;)

k, what is wrong with people these days? Have their face to face social skills atrophied because communication has been done through emails, texting, im's, etc these days? Anyways, it was definitely nothing wrong with you. On flights people always tend to make small talk with me because of what I'm reading... which sort of defeats the purpose of bringing a book on board to pass the time. But it's definitely a welcomed interruption because I don't mind talking to people.

Aww, you're not that girl. It's called being friendly and nice. Nothing wrong with that.

Ha ha ha! How dare you speak to me!

Too many people trying to move way too fast under way too much stress these days....

Thanks for the well wishes in Mammoth. I won't freeze my butt off - temps are supposed to be in the 50s this weekend. That's why I'll probably run instead of ski!

Lesson of the day: Dont talk to hat wearing guys who watch bowling on TV.

yeah happy people scare some folks...but not us runners!

You totally don't seem like that girl (from having read your blog). There are just too many grouchy people in this world. They need to get over themselves :)

Some people are just grouchy. :(

LOL. Awwww, Maybe those people are just "those people", you know, the jerks who are upset with life and take it out on nice, friendly people :)

haha. one of those people huh... funny story though!

Ug, people can be so rude. Mr. 18-21 would probably get punched in the face if his buddies knew he blew off a cute chick on a plane.

Actually, we need more people like you who are willing to smile at strangers and have conversation. I think people wander around blindly in their lives sometimes....ignoring others.....anyway, its one thing to hold someone verbal hostage....and another to just make friendly short conversation :-)

Way to freak people out :) Totally kidding!! I think they were just rude and grumpy. It's not a sin to be friendly!

And yeah, I have decided I need to do something in addition to running because my core is so weak; I started a Pilates/Yoga/Cardio class and want to die. I have muscles that I never knew existed that are cursing me out right now!

it amazes me how unfriendly people can be sometimes! that was a funny story though. you are not 'that girl'! i'd let you talk my ear off if you sat by me!!! ;-)

Hahahaha I don't think you could possibly be 'that' girl at all, I think people are just weirdos. Although....did you make sure to put on deodorant that morning? That's my only theory.

Be careful with the PD, girl!

Stuart said...

They probably weren't runners ergo they were odd themselves, it's not you for sure!

Congrats ion the new move as well!

Bowling? Hmmmm. I think anything you can do BETTER drunk, maybe shouldn't be an NCAA sport????

I don't know? Maybe?

Marcy said...

LMAO! Ooohhhh girl that's how I feel sometimes. It's like "Wha did I say?!" Dayum! It's NEVER you, always everyone else. At least that's what I tell myself HAHA

Nope, you are not that girl. People are just weird!

Hey, love your blog!

I don't think you should feel bad like you're "that girl". It's not like you randomly tapped this guy in the shoulder and said, "So what are your thoughts on our current economy?"

P.O.M. said...

Ha. That's funny. Don't take it personal. I fly ALL the time and just don't like talking to anyone. I want to veg out and read or whatever. UNLESS it's a hot guy, then I'll talk.

OhMyLaughter said...

Hahaha... this is a very Like, OhMyBlog! kind of tale.

I don't think you were THAT girl.. because you knew when to leave the people next to you alone. THAT girls/guys/random women next to you on planes don't shut up. And tell you their life stories.

I ALWAYS get excited when I meet someone cool on a plane. The best so far have been a pilot whose kids went to the same college as me and a guy in the National Guard returning from Iraq.
