Ouch

So yesterday morning I told you guys that I did the biggest loser workout video for a measly 20 minutes. 5 minute warm up. 10 minute sculpt. 5 minute cool down. That's it. Also you could choose to do the weights if you wanted, but since I didn't have any, I used two remotes for the TV. Yea, envision that odd picture.

I AM SO SORE TODAY I CAN BARELY MOVE. Seriously, I can't remember being this sore in a few years. This makes me think that the move this weekend is going to be tough. At least we live downstairs!

I was going to run tonight before the Biggest Loser, but I am thinking that I need a day of rest for the week, so instead I'll be going to Target after work to see if I can find any good stuff for the new pad.

On another note, there hasn't been many good sales lately on running gear, which is why my posting has stopped with links. I think that many stores are just still recovering from Christmas. I did find this little gem, Nike Pro Womens Core Tight Long Sleeve Mock is available in many colors but the pink and grey one shown below is on sale right now for 15.Th97 at the Sports Authority Outlet. There are some other colors as well, but they are all for 23.99, which is still a good price.

I have seen this shirt in person and it looks super warm and comfy and I love wearing Nike Pro stuff because it fits so well. The material is so nice and I really feel that Nike has upped the game when it comes to their running stuff. Since it's been in the 80's here in CA, I am not going to be purchasing much more warm weather attire.

Thanks for all the nice comments about the new place. I'm not moving in with Mr. R, but one of my best friends from back in middle school and high school. I'll take more pictures once we actually move in and it becomes a little home. On racing news, I am currently contemplating the Rock and Roll San Diego FULL Marathon. It's May 31st, five months before I actually thought I would run one, since I was looking to have Portland Marathon be my first. I've completely lost my mind, but am also up for some solid training plan ideas if anyone has some good ones. I am so grateful to the running community online for inspiring, encouraging, and offering up so many ideas and tips.

Coming up in the near future I plan to share some stories about a problem with the police while running, a review of the running skirt, and my plane ride up north over Christmas break, which was quite funny. :)

xoxo

My 2 cents Danica...

You always want your 1st marathon to be a memorable one. And San Diego is pretty much one big party from start to finish. Lots of crowd support, lots of your RW + blogging friends will run it and the only travel for you will be an hour to hour and a half drive down south.

That being said, running a marathon requires commitment to your training. If you have the gumption and the drive to do it, I say go for it. And go into with the mindset of just finishing - don't need to add the pressure of time too. You can do that for the 2nd marathon you run.

Weather is also less than optimal most likely. Last year (my first) was overcast and in the 60s at the start, but once the skies cleared during the latter part, it got warm and difficult.

My advice to 1st time marathoners is to enjoy it, take your time and take it all in because you never forget #1. But if you're gonna do it, make sure you have the training behind ya.

If you want more 'expert' advice, pose this question to the vets on RW.com for training tips and whatnot.

Good luck with your decision...no pressure or anything!

I'm a big fan of the FIRST training plan (a google search should give you info) as well as the plans in the book Four Months to a Four Hour Marathon.

SD RnR was my first and I have been hooked ever since! I have walked my share of marathons due to retarded injuries, so I would definitely encourage you to adopt a training plan, have a somewhat conservative goal for your first, and remember to have fun! Hope to see you in SD!

I plan to do Portland soon... maybe next year.

can you imagine actually doing the biggest loser show and lifting weights for like hours on end...couldn't do it

Nice workout.

Oh, and take and day or two to unpack after you move, and then feel free to invite me to your fabulous new beach pad. That place looks awesome!

I did one of those 10 minute leg workouts the other day in our free cable stations and it kicked my butt. I felt discouraged afterwards like I was out of shape. I can run a marathon but can't do 10 minutes of legs. Yikes.

Oh, I can't wait to read your next post!!

You should do San Diego. ALl you California girls have the opportunity to meet up, very cool.

I would read everything you can about San Diego before signing up. I have heard very mixed reviews and was contemplating doing it this year. I ran a half last August and it was brutally hot with almost no shade. That and the negative comments about the race and course on marathonguide.com made me nix SD and I signed up for Eugene instead. I'm in the Bay Area, so it's not quite as warm as where you are, so maybe you'll be used to the heat, but for me, going north is much more appealing at that time of year. Just my thoughts. Your blog is great!

Congrats on the move and on signing up for S.D. Since you rocked the half, you're so ready for the full. Although I've never personally done it, you can see from above that it's a good one to run. Congrats again!

Some of Chris's friends did the marathon here in SD last year and they all really enjoyed it. From what I have heard, there is a new band every mile so there is always something to look forward soon. Might as well have your first marathon be a party! :)

Hey ChicRunner... in order to use the Nike+ do you have to have Nike+ or even just Nike shoes?

I've never run the San Diego Marathon, but I hear its a good one. If you are looking for a solid plan, I recommend the bood "Advanced Marathoning" book by Pete Pfitzinger. It has 12, 18, and 24 week plans. It also explains the workouts really well. You can purchase it on Amazon.com for sure. Keep on running!
